A drawer that wobbles, scrapes, or sits unevenly may have a loose slide screw rather than a damaged cabinet. Emptying the drawer and checking the slide alignment first prevents stripped holes and keeps the repair controlled.
Empty and inspect
Remove the drawer contents and support the drawer while opening it. Look for loose screws, bent metal, broken plastic clips, and wood that has pulled away around an anchor. Do not force a drawer that is jammed.
Check the slide position
Compare the left and right slides and note whether the drawer is level in the opening. Tighten a sound screw gradually with the correct driver. Avoid overtightening, which can strip the cabinet material or distort the slide.
Repair a damaged hole
If a screw spins in a worn hole, remove it and use a suitable repair approved for the cabinet material. Do not substitute a much longer screw without checking for plumbing, wiring, or the cabinet face behind the mounting point.
Test the drawer
Reinstall the drawer and move it slowly through its full travel. It should remain level and clear the cabinet on both sides. Replace a bent or cracked slide rather than trying to straighten a part that carries the drawer load.
