Crumbs and dust collect under sofa cushions where they can attract pests and wear the fabric. A slow vacuum pass with the correct attachment removes debris without pulling seams or roughening upholstery.
Check the care label
Read the upholstery code before using a vacuum or cleaner. Remove cushions and inspect for coins, pet toys, or sharp objects that could damage the hose.
Use low suction
Fit a soft brush or upholstery tool and start at the lowest useful suction. Work along seams and beneath cushions, keeping the nozzle moving rather than holding it in one place.
Finish carefully
Use a crevice tool around the frame only when it will not catch loose threads. Replace cushions in their original positions and clean the vacuum filter if fine dust has accumulated.
Vacuum weekly in busy rooms and address spills separately according to the fabric instructions.
